Creating a new sandstone door opening

Edinburgh Stone Repair Ltd recently carried out this new door opening as part of a property renovation project in Lasswade, Midlothian.

The opening was carefully formed within the existing traditional stone wall before new natural sandstone jambs, lintel and sill were supplied, hand dressed and built into position. The new stonework was finished with traditional tooling to complement the character and appearance of the existing masonry.

Care was taken to ensure the new opening integrated naturally with the original rubble stone elevation, creating a high-quality traditional finish while allowing for the installation of the new doorway.
