Ideally, you should have a building inspection carried out every couple of years to maintain your building’s stonework and roof, as repairs can become expensive if neglected.
At Edinburgh Stone Repair Ltd we use the best IRATA-qualified rope access technicians, alongside our stonemasons and roofers, using rope access and cherry pickers to carry out full building inspections and identify any dangerous masonry that should be removed before it falls into the street.
We can also use rope access and a cherry picker to identify problems with rainwater systems — such as a leaking gutter or downpipe, which can cause defects in stonework if not addressed quickly — and to replace any slipped roofing slates that may be letting water into your property.
A building inspection by rope access or cherry picker is useful because a lot of issues can be missed from the ground. Our rope technicians carry out video inspections using GoPro cameras.

Five services, no scaffolding
Repointing
Open joints at height can be a problem and allow water in. We can carry out lime pointing using rope access techniques to fix the problem fast, without the need for scaffolding.
Stone repairs
If the surface of your stonework is damaged, we can use rope access techniques to remove any dangerous masonry and repair it with Lithomex lime mortar, matched in colour and shape to the original stonework.
Roofing works
We also have qualified slaters who are rope technicians, and who can replace any missing or broken slates to stop water ingress into your property.
Rainwater goods
We also use rope access to clean and repair any defects to gutters and downpipes.

At Edinburgh Stone Repair we pride ourselves on our dexterity and on building individual working relationships with our clients, whilst consistently delivering a high standard of work. All of our staff have attended Scottish Lime Centre courses, making us experts in using lime mortar, and have been trained through the Dalkeith Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) and Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS). We are Edinburgh Trusted Traders and are fully vetted, and all our staff are fully trained by Stonehealth in the DOFF and TORC stone cleaning machines, enabling us to carry out cleaning to listed buildings throughout the UK.
