Natural slate
We offer a slating service, replacing and maintaining the roofs of Edinburgh tenements and restoring and preserving their lifespan — replacing the roofing slates, matching the original materials, hand dressing to size using traditional techniques and fixing with copper nails.
Slating is a traditional roof covering. Natural slate is chosen for its longevity and durability, lasting from 60 to 150 years, and is highly resistant to severe weather.
Heritage techniques
Our leadworkers specialise in heritage techniques, cutting this malleable metal into shapes for flashings around the base of chimneys, giving excellent protection against water ingress and lasting 80 years or more.

Rainwater goods
We replace traditional cast iron downpipes and gutters throughout Edinburgh, using traditional cast iron to maintain the building.
A leaking downpipe can cause severe leaks, and regular maintenance must be carried out on downpipes to prevent problems. We advise that gutters are cleaned every 6–12 months to prevent leaks. Please contact us with any roofing enquiries you have.

Edinburgh’s historic, heritage and conservation buildings require attention to maintain their refined aspect. Invariably these buildings are full of masonry features that from time to time require replacement, and frequently these stone repairs are in inaccessible places.
Edinburgh Stone Repairs & Masonry offer a rope access service for roofing and masonry repairs in those difficult-to-reach areas. Typically our rope access service is aimed at tall Edinburgh buildings such as churches, tenements and other Georgian buildings, and it is available for both roofing repairs and stone masonry repairs.
